Position Summary

Manages and maintains MEAA Detroit office’s computer-aided design software environments to ensure operational continuity and efficiency. This role bridges the gap between customer account teams, engineering & manufacturing teams, and IT departments.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Software & System Management: Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade CAD/PLM software (e.g., Siemens NX/TeamCenter, Dassault 3DX & CATIA V5, Actify Spinfire Professional, Theorem Translator, Honda VMC(Dassault 3DX) Q-Checker.), manage licenses, and oversee engineering servers/data backups.
  • Technical Support & Training: Act as primary point of contact between MELMB design lead(s), MEAA Detroit Customer Engineering teams.   Interface with Customer-specific CAD teams to ensure data transmission and execute applicable FTP’s.  Primary point of contact for user issues, troubleshoot problems, provide training, develop and manage documentation/workflows.
  • Data & Process Control: Manage CAD data, ensure version control, understanding of design standards (like Automotive GD&T), and facilitate the engineering release process.
  • Collaboration: Interface with Engineering, IT, Manufacturing, and external vendors/clients, ensuring smooth data flow and project execution.
  • Customization & Development: Customize CAD environments, develop macros/tools, and support source code for engineering projects to boost efficiency.
  • Quality & Compliance: Review designs and other submissions where applicable to ensure compliance with automotive industry standards, regulatory requirements, quality protocols, and compliance protocols.
  • Special Project Support:  Support MEAA Detroit marketing and special project initiatives. i.e. design concepts, visual displays, cutaway models, prototype development, special product designs, etc.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in CAD, Engineering, or related field, plus five years of experience in related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience with CAD administration and deep knowledge of relevant automotive CAD/PLM systems.  Networking knowledge is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong technical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills; patience and customer-service focus.
  • Industry Standards: Focus on strict quality (ISO/TS 16949), safety, and performance standards for vehicle components.
  • Global Complexity: Support global R&D across different sites and time zones.
  • Fast-Paced: Deadline-driven environment with constant new product development.
