Help Desk Specialist

Position Summary

Deploy and maintain various desktop computers and peripherals. Provide 1st tier technical support to users as needed. Participate in software and hardware rollout initiatives. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain helpdesk ticket queues and requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintain good logs on ticket resolution and populate knowledge base with pertinent information.
  • Assist local IT staff with special projects such as cabling, cleanup, data center reorganization and hardware refresh work.
  • Install, deploy, patch, and maintain network systems and PC hardware and software including Mac, Linux, and Windows desktops, laptops, peripherals, and terminals.  
  • Coordinate installation of hardware and software as requested by end users or management staff.
  • Assist with management and troubleshooting of company mobile devices.
  • Setup and configure ShoreTel land line phones.
  • Provide support to and train users on how to use and configure locally installed applications and desktop tools
  • Strong sense of urgency in support of internal customer base. 
  • Support and assist the IT Manager and IT associates with special projects to increase the efficiency of the information flow.
  • Perform on-call duties in a bi-weekly rotation. 
  • Support and make recommendations to improve Company policies and procedures

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Linux and Windows desktop support.
  • Oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Strong desktop support skills and problem-solving ability. Able to understand multiple aspects of integrated systems.
  • Ability to administer Mac, Linux, and Windows desktop operating systems.
  • Ability to understand technical aspects of the business needs.
  • IT related certificates a plus.
