IT Systems Administrator

Position Summary

Implement, maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure systems. This includes various networking devices, servers, software and solutions. Provide 2nd tier technical support to users as needed. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis of network needs and contribute to design of network architecture, integration, and installation.
  • Install, deploy and maintain network systems and PC hardware and software, including servers, peripherals, storage, network nodes, telephony/VOIP and terminals.  
  • Evaluate local area network hardware and software requirements and capabilities and make recommendations.
  • Coordinate installation of hardware and software by others
  • Leads projects of small to medium scope and complexity and participates in larger / more complex projects 
  • Provide support and train users in local area network administration and usage.  Answer technical inquiries by users regarding the operation of the PC and network.
  • Monitor and maintain network and systems stability, availability, capacity, and performance.
  • Communicate and coordinate network schedule, backups, and downtime to users.
  • Coordinate third-party maintenance for network hardware, software, and telecommunications services.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation of network configurations, cabling layouts, and other documentation required for the efficient operation of the network.
  • Audit and implement countermeasures to improve the network’s security in compliance with Company policies and general IT controls to information security.
  • Utilizes a strong sense of urgency in support of internal customer base. Utilizes understanding of the technical aspects of the business needs.
  • Support and assist the IT Manager and IT associates with special projects to increase the efficiency of MEAA’s information flow.
  • Perform on-call duties in a 4-week rotation. 
  • Support and make recommendations to improve Company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Technical degree and a minimum of three years of experience in systems support, or equivalent in combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in networking skills and problem solving. Able to understand multiple aspects of integrated systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft AD management 
  • Experience administering Windows, VMware and Cisco network systems.
  • Good understanding of firewall planning and implementation including advanced functions such as AV, IPS and Malware prevention.
  • Proficiency in technical writing skills including network diagrams and SOP management.
