Machine Maintenance Tech - 2nd shift

Position Summary

As required, assist with repair, maintenance and machine adjustments of all production machinery and equipment in functional and safe working order to support production operations. Communicate to Supervisor any irregular issues.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Assist/train with machine changeovers, start-ups, adjustments, repairs as needed to ensure quality of parts and required efficiencies
  • Perform record-keeping duties to document maintenance schedules, work orders, purchases and inventories
  • Place purchase orders as necessary to maintain and improve machine condition
  • Troubleshoot all electrical issues. Must be proficient in ac/dc theory, motors, relay logic, wiring, use of multi-meter, various components and associated wiring. Must be proficient in PLC control.   This includes monitoring plc to determine root cause, along with use of electrical schematics.  Also possess a basic GOT (HMI) knowledge.  Make small PLC programming modifications as required to maintain and or improve processes.   Troubleshoot servo issues.
  • Troubleshoot all mechanical issues (excluding repairs requiring use of manual mill, lathe, welding equipment).  Must be proficient with various tools such as drill, tap, slide hammer, gear puller, shear, brake, drill press, feeler gauges. Proficient with both detailed and assembly drawings.  Proficient with repair and assembly (and disassembly) of mechanical devices including bearings, shafts, springs, couplings, gears, clutches, bushings, cams, chains, belts)
  • Knowledge of A3 (8-step) method for troubleshooting root cause on difficult issues 
  • Effective teamwork required for troubleshooting difficult issues.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associates degree, or dedicated program in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering very helpful.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Machine maintenance and diagnostic/troubleshooting experience required.
  • Programmable Logic Control (PLC) knowledge required
  • Familiarity with safety precautions such as Lock-out/Tag-out, Arc Flash protection, welding, and personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and other machinery.
  • Computer literate.
